This evidence-based course is designed for healthcare professionals involved in asthma care, including GPs, nurses, pharmacists and prescribers. It covers asthma recognition, diagnosis and long-term management, including symptoms, triggers, co-morbidities, objective testing and guideline-based treatment approaches.
Management options are explored in detail, including Anti-inflammatory Reliever (AIR) and Maintenance and Reliever Therapy (MART) strategies, inhaler device selection and technique, severe asthma, and patient-centred self-manageent support.
By the end of the course, learners will be able to apply evidence-based approaches to asthma diagnosis and management, optimise inhaler use, and support effective self-management and monitoring.
The course takes approximately 3-4 hours to complete, including self-directed learning from recommended references.
